IT'S A WIDGEON NOT A PIGEON

I kept seeing this duck, both in our local wetlands and in Seattle. But I couldn't figure out what it was. Then I saw his picture in a field guide and - ta-dah! A widgeon.

While this guy is stubby, he is kinda cute. At least, his spouse thinks so.

OOPS! Not his spouse. The gal in the foreground is a female ring-neck. Let's try again. I think the lady in the right front is a female widgeon, hiding in the weeds. Or maybe it's a juvenile male?

One last try:

Now, none of these birds should be mistaken for this widgeon, who needs gas, not produces it!
